A boost for the region: RFH University of Applied Sciences Cologne and its partners are pleased to have received funding for a campus focusing on artificial intelligence and robotics. In the AI Village, located in the Cologne region, AI technologies will be developed, tested, and implemented in collaboration with companies.

According to the project partners, the AI Village will be Europe's first fully digitalised campus for research, development and practical demonstration of artificial intelligence and robotics applications. It will bring together companies and research institutions to develop and test AI technologies in a real-world environment. The aim is to transfer these developments into production through technology and knowledge transfer.

Artificial intelligence has long been a topic at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. A robotics and AI laboratory, AI-based data analysis and electives in teaching are among the existing offerings and competencies. The AI Village is now a milestone in the use of artificial intelligence in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The AI Village is a joint project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. The Cologne University of Applied Sciences is responsible for the academic education and training. The first step will be to establish an AI education and training centre and a project area.
