Six arguments for why Cologne is the perfect location for companies

With more than one million inhabitants, we are the fourth largest German city. With 8.5 million people, the metropolitan region is the most populous region in Germany – and it continues to grow.

(And also leave). Three international airports can be reached from downtown Cologne in less than an hour’s drive: Cologne/Bonn (12 minutes), Dusseldorf (45 minutes) and Frankfurt (48 minutes). By train, you can reach domestic and foreign destinations quickly – for example Amsterdam (2:42 h), Brussels (1:48 h) and Paris (3:14 h). And: Cologne’s ports form the second largest inland port in Germany.

This applies to numerous international big playersand hidden champions from the automotive, mechanical engineering, energy and environmental economics, chemical, pharmaceutical, biotech and insurance industries. In addition, as the film and television capital, Cologne is at the heart of the media landscape in North Rhine-Westphalia. More information on our media landscape can be found at medienstadt.koeln.

Around 100,000 students and researchers from all disciplines shape Cologne’s science scene. Our companies benefit from highly qualified specialists and innovative research results – for example, from the German Aerospace Center or the four Max Planck Institutes. You can find more science-related information at www.wissenschaft.koeln or www.koelner-wissenschaftsrunde.de.

Every year, Koelnmesse’s leading international trade fairs attract millions of visitors from 224 countries. These include, for example, Anuga, immcologne, gamescom, dmexco, Intermot and Art Cologne.

We are cosmopolitan and cheerful. People from over 180 nations and over 250 different cultures live here together. We offer a variety of museums, a varied theatre and sports programme – and of course our landmark, the Cologne Cathedral. And don’t forget: on 11 November, our fifth season – Carnival – gets underway.
